PO1 Theresa Aldrich
This is our first Secretary who is not a veteran. They have all had to deal with this corrupt culture and being lied to, it's sad but true. This, however this is a new twist. If Secretary Shulkin is proven correct then it would mean the current administration has it's own people inside the VA trying to subvert and sabotage the Secretary. Why the administration just wouldn't fire him is beyond me. Now we have a Secretary that is bunkered in defending his position and how can any work for the benefit of veterans get done like that. In my opinion it appears that forces want to push the VA to all but shut it's doors and send all veterans out to private care.
Which in theory can sound very enticing. I am personally against this, but I know others who are for it. I think privatization is step that will eventually lead to us have to pay co-pays for our benefits, all administrations have painted pretty pictures and told us how precious our service was and how much they thank us for our service. And yet, the Veterans Affairs is still under staffed and money is being spent in corrupt ways.
In my humble opinion, the VA has been managed to fail for many years. A failed VA would cause an outcry from veterans. Then they could move us to private care, get what they want they would save a lot of money but we would get lost in the cracks.
