The VA really needs to be fixed! Probably be best to fire the top two tiers of management and hire more medical professionals. I have been lucky in that I have gotten good care at the San Diego VA, but that should be the case at every facility.

I am sorry that you believe corruption to be rampant in the VA, I personally believe that it does exist, but I don't believe it is something that I would call rampant. I honestly believe streamlining the hiring process to be less cumbersome and inefficient would go further towards fixing problems at the VA than anything else I could name. I believe that despite it's faults the VA does a lot of good for a lot of veterans. You and all veterans deserve the absolute best care possible, but many fail to understand that even the absolute best of care outside the VA doesn't fix everyone's problems, look at people like Patrick Swayze, or Christopher Reeves. The best care money can buy couldn't save them. Many people simply don't realize that lines for specialty care are backed up for months in the civilian sector also. Some things probably do result from corruption, others are just a fact of life. The VA is a good organization as a whole with a lot of people who do care and try hard to take care of our veterans. I don't believe it's fair to lump them all into a bundle and call them rampantly corrupt.

I use to help my grandfather take vets to the VA, it was a 2 hour drive to the nearest VA facility. As a teen I saw the VA play appointment games, waiting games, the Doc has an emergency games, your record is missing games, all this as we helped them around the hospital trying to find their next appointments location. I have several friends who are currently dealing with the VA and its insanity, one has a tore ACL they wont fix and are classify it as elective surgery, so Walking is now elective? But hay you want boobs that's fully funded.

How many wait lists have we seen? How many Black Mold incidents, Suicide hotlines not manned, how many Vets have died because the VA refused to see them in a timely manner. How about the Vet with Terminal cancer who could have lived had the VA done its job? Sure his Family might get some of the 2.5 Million they were awarded... but I doubt it, and he will still be dead. How many times do we need to hear about VA employees being moved after complaints.. What are they catholic priests? What's with the shell game?

I think most of them should be in jail for assessor to murder but at the least they should be fired for negligence. You are correct you cant save them all... But you can dam well do the due diligence and TRY! The VA has become the enemy of the VET.

All of the "games" you describe happen in the civilian sector also. I freely admit they are problems, however they are not only the VA's problem. All of these things are HEALTHCARE PROBLEMS as well as being VA problems. Making it sound as if the VA is the only segment of healthcare with problems is very unfair to a lot of people who work hard to take care of you and other veterans. Whether you appreciate it or not, I work the job that I do because I like being able to contribute taking care of veterans. I promise you that I could earn more money than I do, yet I stay because I like taking care of veterans. I'm not the only one who feels this way. HEALTHCARE as a whole needs a reform, not just the VA.

MSG Mark Million - Last comment from me on this, You say "All of the "games" you describe happen in the civilian sector also" But in the Civilian sector when someone breaks the law, when they play those games' when they treat their customers with disrespect, abuse, incompetence, and all around like crap... The Customer has the ability to go to another Doctor, another Hospital, get a different Insurance Policy, seek legal action.. VETS DONT!!! We are stuck dealing with the VA unless we pony up the money and try to get Insurance on our own. The VA abuses this fact and murders our Brothers and Sisters so the Administration side can make a tidy profit in bonuses and 6 figure salary's. How many scandals over a Century do you need before you admit they are a corrupt organization that cloths its self in sheep's wool to fool the mass's? This corruption has been systemic since 1921... Almost 100 years of scandals from one organization and aimed at one small select group who are there because they defended this Nation... I don't understand how ANYONE can defend them at this point.

You fall in the lucky few category. Most I talk to, and all I helped my grandfather with as a Teen were getting screwed by the VA. Hope that Luck keeps up for you.
