Could someone confirm the details on this epidemic of suicides? It seems that these reports have been used by employers as an excuse to avoid hiring young vets. Who wouldn't fear the potential of hiring "unstable" people. And yet, I've heard that the majority of these suicides are among Vietnam Era vets. Is this true? Do we have to find better messages to solicit help for suicidal vets? Ones that focus help where it is needed. Ones that don't have an adverse affect on public opinion?

CPT Jack Durish I wish I had the ability to be as eloquent as you seem to be in all your post. I always to try to drive a tack with a sledge hammer. Well said, sir.

This must be a "trending" topic as I just engaged with a comrade on this very site about this very topic. =) As I wrote to the comrade, I cannot personally attest to the "21" number, but I CAN say that I have attended 6 funerals in the last 10 years or so for veterans who have taken their own lives. The comrade with whom I was conversing used the following link as evidence for his stance that "21" is not correct: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fact-checker/wp/2015/02/04/the-missing-context-behind-a-widely-cited-statistic-that-there-are-22-veteran-suicides-a-day/
The missing context behind the widely cited statistic that there are 22 veteran suicides a day
Lawmakers and the media frequently use a catchy figure about the number of veteran suicides, but there's a lot of information missing.
