This is a great project for the pure historic value of collecting our military history not from an official account or history books, but from the eyes of those there. As a history geek and study I've read through some during the early stages and have found this to be a priceless asset in the correlation between the recorded history we know and the in depth look from the inside. It brings our military history to a level never before seen or imagined. On a personal level, I have an entire bookcase of nothing but books filled with diaries and letters from soldiers throughout history. It's not only my favorite type of historical study, but as mentioned above, in my opinion some of the most valuable. Anyone who hasn't should check it out.

In addition, those U.S. citizen civilians who were actively involved in supporting war efforts (such as war industry workers, USO workers, flight instructors, medical volunteers, etc.) are also invited to share their valuable stories.
Great read and share!

Don't forget Operation Gothic Serpent in Somalia, 1993. It was separate from the U.N. mission. Also, the War on Terrorism is ongoing. It didn't end in 2009.
