Anheuser jumped on it a little over a decade ago. The highest one I ever had was one from guarding General Tilelli, I always kept it in my pocket because in Korea some guys thought it was cool to play that coin shit, it was either the low coin or no coin. It is cool to have the coins, not so cool to play POG with a coin for a beer, but I got quite a few free beers.

I have over a hundred of them. They came pretty easy to us beacuse bring DUSTOFF, you support a lot of different units and agencies. You fly a lot of Generals from one place to another. It was kind of a compitition for us. If you had a duplicate, you'd trade it for one you didn't have. I keep them in a vase on my dressor.

This has gotten past the point of ridiculousness. Might as well be a trophy for playing.

Sir I think you can have it even if you played badly. So it is a fad with military styles and video games to entice the youth. I am not sure how successful they are at selling them.

Since I've joined, I personally enjoyed purchasing the challenge coins of the squadrons I've been assigned to. They act as small mementos of where I've been and what I've seen. Granted I have purchased a few from other squadrons or units, due to uniqueness, and I have my top choices from ones I've earned. I feel the challenge coin designs are going more toward video games, due to pop culture references and the graphic design aspect. The tradition remains with the receiving of coins and doing "coin checks", but gone are the days of simple stamped/engraved designs.
