I watched the video and it appears that the "suspect" diverted from the officer he was beating on and came after the backup officer. I don't know what prompted the backup to fire so many shots ... the article doesn't say how many times out of the ten shots the suspect was hit ... but from the video, I can't say as I am in any position to criticize the officer for shooting.
