I think the bigger picture is the fact why is baby food and formula so expensive to start with? When I had my daughter, before she was diagnosed with her kidney stuff, the doctor gave me a form to go to WIC to get formula. Just formula. Nope. I was told I "make too much." Then when she started renal formula, I had to pay for that at first. The cheapest I could find was online. $18.99 a can. One time I ran out and couldn't get it ordered before the weekend. I gave her milk because I had nothing else. That Mon her labs apparently were off. Phosphorus was high. I told the nurse I had to give her milk. She said no I can't because her kidneys couldn't break down protein. So then the docs got TRICARE to cover it and I got it through home health. Then post transplant she was on Nutren Jr. Because she was on Medicaid she got WIC and that covered the Nutren. But I'm lucky I have TRICARE and she was also on Medicaid. I can't imagine how people in my situation who don't have insurance handle it all.

Formula shouldn't be expensive ultimately. And I already know responses I'll get from certain people too.
