I know that this happened over thirty plus years ago, the man apologize for the stupid stunt, everyone needs to leave well enough alone.

I don't condone it either, but if people can change or "evolve their positions on that issue" as politicians like to say it (I always wonder if they did evolve it , no matter what the issue and think they just got caught and have to contain the situation when brought to light), then everyone's past is subject to the highest scrutiny, and any mistake, no matter if it was learned from or not, will basically give anyone whose past mistakes HAVEN't been yet discovered a free pass to publicly crucify ANYONE. That's more then just a slippery slope. It's downright hypocritical and dangerous. Some people need to calm down, because when it happens to them, they'll have a pretty rough go of things from there (as in for probably the remainder of their lives). I don't think everyone needs to publicly out and chastise everyone's current self for the past self's words or deeds (unless it was some violent act that they walked scot-free on or something). The fact that they're willing to go back DECADES and still pounce on it is pretty damn petty as well.
