RP Members Volunteers working hard for veterans! The Gary Sinise Foundation!
So far, the NWFA has completed or committed to complete 16 homes. As more veterans are identified, more member participation, including donations of product, product delivery and installation, will be needed.
Just after the holidays, a group of St. Louis contractors joined forces to install wood flooring in the home of a local veteran paralyzed following an armed robbery.
Army veteran Chris Sanna was attending a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game last summer to celebrate his mother’s birthday. When Sanna and his girlfriend left the game, two men approached them outside the stadium demanding their property. They complied, but when they turned to run, the men shot them. Sanna is paralyzed from the waist down.
The contractors, who work for competing companies, volunteered their time to install 1,400 square feet of wood flooring in Sanna’s home. The installation companies, all recruited by St. Louis NWFA member Lockwood Flooring, included All Wood Flooring Company, JD’s Flooring, Jerry’s Fine Floors and JW Hardwood Floors. The 2 1⁄4-inch prefinished solid ash was donated by Sheoga Hardwood Flooring and delivered by Ambassador Floors. This project is the third home for which Sheoga has donated flooring.
