Women in the Air Force (WAF) was a program which served to bring women into limited roles in the United States Air Force. In 1974, when I went through Boot Camp, the Women Army Corps (WAC) still existed, in fact at Fort Jackson South Caroline a fellow soldier and his wife were both going through separate Boot Camps.

Thanks for honoring the Women's Air Force SGT John " Mac " McConnell . Women Air Force pilots transported aircraft where they needed to go and trained men to be pilots during WWII. A number died during the war - most in accidents but sometimes by sabotage because some didn't appreciate what they were doing.
