Im so glad you are proud of your son. Rank isn't that easy to make. I remember back in the 50,s and early 60,s Their were PFC,s with good conduct medals. I was in the Marine Corp from 59-63 and Rank was just in the process of being changed. E-3 was Cpl. E-4 was Sgt. and and so on. Their were a lot of Marines that lost a stripe do to the changeover. Their were a lot of unhappy Marines. Then Vietnam came along and you could Make Sgt. in 4yrs.if you shipped over. Semper Fi.
