War and Waste: Cautionary Tales as US Ponders Afghan Boost

I keep drawing the same conclusions as many did with Vietnam, yes we entered in good faith- but maybe we should "know when to fold em". If the Afghans don't really desire full and true independence, but they want someone to fight the battle for them, maybe we should revisit our strategies.
Just a thought...
