Interesting review for what appears to be an interesting book. Many outside of the military realm still tend to romanticize war, but overlook the actual things that occur in order to maintain that romantic ideal.

An interesting phenomenon has developed over the last couple of decades; War tourism.
I know of several acquaintances that have gone off to join Kurdish militias, and rebel forces in Ukraine. One is a former Bundeswehr officer, another a former Sergeant in the US Army. Strange, that.

SSG Diane R. blows my mind that anyone would want to visit active spots. I guess the threat of not ever coming back from your vacation doesn't weigh on them.
