SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth Unfortunately, they are actually hurting their pocketbook. By flagging their own sites under the DCMA, Google has to remove them from their search results. This removal has a high potential to actually reduce traffic to their web sites. Which in turn would lead to a loss in ad and sales revenue.
