As a current spouse, but past Veteran (reserves) and always committed to helping others, I feel it is important for all to know that one person can make a difference. I commend the General for his leadership and his ability to objectively display compassion for this Soldier and do the right thing. I am forever grateful when I am able to meet and interact with such leaders.

I would fight the system regularly for patients. It is the only way and now I do it for family and sometimes myself with the VA! I would also ensure we had what we needed to do the job. Didn't always make me popular with those who deployed us with crap equipment and an abundance of one useless outdated item and no oxygen or something really essential. Military nurses have been a special group. They continue to make me so proud to be one. (My husband is also a nurse)
