My community works with and supports all kind of SOF units. 2003 invasion of Iraq, we traveled through the Country building MSR's ( Man Supply Routes) and ASR's( Alternate Supply Routes). We were attached to the GCE (Ground Combat Element) to help Combat Engineers with MSR's and Combat bridge mission, and on one of those sites was Saddam Canal, we were out on our own, so 1st MARDIV assigned a Recon Platoon with ANGLICO attachment and it was Rudy's unit. They did over-watch for us and even crossed the canal to sweep out and keep bad guy's out. The one problem they had is they were rolling through with Mercedes Tactical tactical SOV Trucks, not much room to carry what they normally use a Zodiac, but we had our's from UCT, so they used it, one team one fight.

Bottom line these are regular guy's trained to do special missions, when needed. They treat all who work with and support them as grown up's, they let you do your job and they do theirs, and when it comes time to like convoy or defend a Outpost or site they expect you to be in the fight and help.

On our SOF deployment on some of the SOF camps our guy's were on and working with we would do combative s/MCMAP with them, some we whooped their ass and some they whooped our ass. They are good at what they do and we are good at what we do and it works as a team to complete the mission. It is called training,and they do a lot for their job, and we do the same.

The big thing is they are professionals, and expect if you are with them then you are also. They don't expect you to do a Level one OP, but expect you to be able to fight, and Defend yourself in kind.
