Despite what Trump said, some people did know how complicated healthcare is. But Trump was clueless. If he ever came up with a plan that covered everyone at lower premiums as he said he would, everyone would vote for it. But he, and the republicans haven't.

Don't agree but appreciate the reflection. I think this has less to do with this topic than how the GOP's defined itself the last 8 years. After McCain's loss the GOP practically stopped being a party with any particular set of principles or ideals. Its sole identity was being the anti-Obama party. It became an ad hominem party. Obama was the de facto leader of the GOP by virtue of the fact that the GOP's only action was reaction to him. McConnell set a good example of this when he expressed his legislative priority. As a result, the GOP ended up having to nominate the most anti-Obama candidate. Although the Dems certainly must reflect upon how they lost in November, I think the GOP must also ask itself what it means to be a Republican because their leader has very little in common with any previous GOP POTUS. Does it merely mean you're a Trump supporter, or is there a core set of principles beyond one man by which the party's defined?

IMV, the "core set of principles" that define Republicans and Democrats alike are "whatever gets the most votes." "Conservative", "Liberal", and "Progressive" are stronger labels but they don't align cleanly with the parties anymore ... but conservatives end up voting for the Republican as the closest match ... and liberals and progressives for the Democrat. Nobody is particularly satisfied.

When they apologize for lying to America... and running interference for a usurping fraud the last eight years.

Like the old saying "I'm a republican because we all cant be on welfare" It holds true today the only two kinds of people that vote Democrat are (1) the people who are rich and can afford to pay the cost/ are not affected by the second group of democrats. (2) The ones who have something to gain from the system I.E. Free college, free food, free healthcare and so on. The rest of the population is sick of taking care of these fools. Work or die its that simple. If you don't want to work that's fine, just don't have your hand out trying to have us pay for you. Don't have us take care of your kids. I took care of all of mine. If you cant find a job blame your Democratic party for regulating the jobs out of America.
