Thanks for mentioning and honoring John Jacob "Jack" Astor IV SGT John " Mac " McConnell who was born during a climactic period of the civil war and died during the sinking of the invincible Titanic on April 15, 1912. Like the rest of us he had no control of his birth or death dats but he built a wealthy empire and served as a US Army LTC in the Spanish–American War which makes him a veteran.

Made it through the war , sad that he was on the Titanic when it sank.

I couldn't help but chuckle at the point in the script when the refined female voice of the narrator pronounced the speed of the mighty RMS Titanic as 22 knots per hour. (The equivalent of saying 22 nautical miles per hour per hour) Still, the story of Astor is a fascinating example of "noblese oblige", the inferred responsibility of privileged people to act with generosity and nobility toward those less privileged. Thus, Astor obeyed the law of the sear "Women and children first" and died like a true gentleman

I thought the voice in itself was robotic in a way.
