Thanks for sharing the news SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Since I am USMA graduate I was made aware that Cindy Jebb was designated as the dean of the Academic Board at my Alma Mater. I don't think I knew her when I was at West Point since she was two years behind me.
As you well know I was in the first class at USMAPS [75-76] and USMA [class of 1980] which included women. Attrition has been tough at West Point. It was tough for the first class of women which graduated about 50 percent while the overall class attrition was about 37%.
Many of the women I graduated with are still friends of mine on Facebook, LinkedIn and via email. At the last reunion I went to, which was the 30th, when I had my first ponytail which I have been growing of locks of love. All but my true friends thought I went to the dark side. Once they learned what I was doing many warned up to me.
We also had the first black First Captain in the history of West Point - Vince Brooks who is know the General in charge of USFK.
Hopefully Cindy Jebb will do well as the Academic Dean.
Kudos to Cindy Jebb and USMA, West Point.

Not so nice feeling can develop into personal hatred, which opens the door to prejudice ahead. What we are taught remains in our subconscious and eventually the lid blows it top & spews venom that harms innocent people. Hopefully, Cindy Jebb instills compassion and respect in Academy's graduates in the years to come.

My blood boils when I read any articles about first women, first black, first XYZ. The person was qualified, period!

Tis true, ma'am. I think though, since it is such a historic first that it has to be mentioned. She was imminently qualified for the position if she was selected from her peers.

I agree 100%!
Yet with our racial divide, I believe we need to stress more on the accomplishments vs. race, religion, sexual orientation etc. Any one with 1/2 a brain will appreciate the folks that achieve these prestigious positions did so on accomplishments and merit not on race etc.

Cindy Jebb was found most qualified for the position and therefore, she was chosen to lead academics at the coveted Academy. We need not dwell on her ability or drive to change the nature and improve the academic standing of the institute.
