Okay PO1 Eric Dehm
I read through your article.
First, I don't support Spenser Rapone's stance o display of Che Guevara's image on a red tee shirt.
There are some factual errors in your article. Here is some clarifying background.
1. Wearing the combat patch of the 1st Battalion 75th ranger regiment on the right shoulder is authorized for everybody who meets the combat deployment standards - Spenser Rapone met those requirements.
2. The Ranger training battalion conducts Ranger School training. Everybody in the 75th Ranger Regiment and battalions is required to go though Ranger School before becoming an NCO. [Officers must successfully complete Ranger school and perform well in an other unit before being assigned.]
3. Being “Released For Standards” from Ranger School occurs for many reasons from physical issues to being peer-rated out by fellow ranger school trainees.
Background: I graduated from USMA, West Point with the class of 1980.
