Teachers are very well compensated. Around here, elementary school teachers start at $45K/year and are at $65K after 10 years. Pretty dang good pay to teach kids how to make macaroni necklaces.

Does this mean that school teachers in WV are state employees? Here in TX teachers are employed by individual local school districts which set pay scales paid for by local property taxes. State 'aid' does figure into it tho.
