What Does an ''America First'' Foreign Policy Actually Mean?

On a pragmatic level, I believe that "America First" in foreign policy was a reaction to the "America Last" foreign policy of the Obama Administration. In more practical terms, it appears to be a work in progress. No one arrives at the White House fully prepared for what they find. It takes time for them to digest and react to the enormity of the responsibility. Thus, I think that the rest of the world as well as the American people will have to wait and see what and "America First" Foreign Policy actually means. Until then, I expect to see many interpretations such as this, delivered by those on all sides of the political/ideological spectrum.

I hope it means our people, our companies, our jobs, our laws, our lands, our economy, our needy, our homeless, our infrastructure, our natural disasters, our sick, our future FIRST. Every other country is a distant second. If that.
