Interesting thought. Most of Southeast Asia and a good chunk of China would probably be speaking Japanese today. US never thought much about stopping Japan's aggressive actions in the region as it was happening. Entire focus was on Germany and what was going on in Europe.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen it was naive thinking and arrogance in thinking that Japan didn't have the competence and will power to go to war with us.

We also underestimated Japanese big time they believed things like Japanese couldn't operate at night because Japanese couldn't see at night at least thats what some of our leaders fell into the belief of.

Yes, read that before, lots of underestimating of Japan prior to the attack.

We would have stayed out of that war (unless FDR and Churchill came up with another excuse).

Capt Dwayne Conyers in all fairness war was coming maybe the war in the Pacific could have been avoidable by our actions but the war in the Atlantic that was coming Hitler and key members of his regime wanted to attack the United States because of our harboring of Jews and undesirables by their cause alone let alone they knew American sentiments where not in favor of the Reich's and would have eventually come into conflict with their agenda for the world.
