Totally different times. Think the world was pretty much war werriy by the time WWII ended but fortunately when the Soviets blockaded Berlin the US still had logistic units and procedures in place and an abundance of surplus airlifters. Plus the Soviets may have been developing nuclear weapons but everyone knew the US had them so the concept of a WWIII that we have today probably wasn't even possible. Now a video game WWIII is a whole other story, you can let your imagination run wild on what would have been.

It was never come to a war both sides were exhausted heck America was so war weary it wasn't sure if it wanted to obligate itself to the Korean war.

Fortunately, the U.S. had a courageous president, Harry S. Truman, who wasn't about to allow Joseph Stalin push us out of West Berlin. The new U.S. Air Force had the personnel & material to mount a magnificent Air Lift (Germans still call it the Luftbrucke or Air Bridge) which saved a City & thousands of lives.
