This article contradicts itself it says you cannot request reconsideration ( you can) I just did, it is one of the avenues the VA caseworkers actually talk about and it is in the letters.
Now in my case I requested a reconsideration it was denied them as I read more I discovered a unusual phrase
unmistakable error that is evident to the average person, there is a specific phrase the give you
I actually on the third appeal
I just added the specific phrase in the first sentence And sent in my original paperwork
It came back with way more than I requested
You can be your own advocate, the key is to research, don't be ridiculous and when you are filing through ebenefits ensure you check once a week at a minimum
That's just my barroom lawyer advice
Of course I was medically retired in Dec and my case was approved at 100% scheduler in Jan then my appeal was done 3 times numerous phone calls and at the end of May I received 100% P&T with chapter 35 eligibility.
I have ratings from 0% to 50% ratings ( multiple ) with secondary ratings attached.
BLUF is this
Document everything.
nothing happens overnight.
always call the VA [login to see] at 0700 your time.
Don't get frustrated and if you don't have copies of orders, dd214's or buddy statements. GET THEM!!
This is just my 25 cents.

I've mentioned this on the site here elsewhere sevl times, as has one other recently. My wife and I cannot extol them too highly, the Natl org of vet advocates or NOVA, https://vetadvocates.org , all highly scrupulous, mainly attys. I understand all the vet groups are good, however, they helped us with our whole thing for me, and only charged the contingency fee allowed by law. They are all exceptionally good at extrmly cmplx cases, at which they excel, wemgotma mbr atty who'd neen a 3 yr vet, which obv helped, however, other than the major vet grps, NOVA, to our way of thinking, should, certainly also rate ver very highly for all vets and or svc mbrs to consider. Our problem for me grew too complex and unweildy for us to be able to use a vet grp, though we started with one of the major ones. The NOVA atty, and we were unbelievably lucky to have him, was an absolute virtuoso, honest, pls then do consider seeking help from NOVA, you'd never had cause for regret, honest, going to them was the single very smartest thing whenever did, fr real, hope wasmofmise and imterest, be eager to hear any thoughts, many thanks.
