The question can be analyzed and answered at different levels and perspectives. Speaking from the Judeo-Christian perspective, Heaven is were we go to rest until Judgement Day if we are children of God. It is also the place God is. Technically speaking, it is not the ultimate place of rest, as both the Hebrew and Christian tradition tells us of the reign of the Messiah, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. This is the faith of the Fathers of our Faith, which believe in something beyond a what their eyes could see, and understood that all this is only temporary.

In my opinion Heaven is a place where there no sickness, no violence, and everyone is loved.
