Memorial day is a difficult day to understand if you have never been a member of the armed forces. Yes, it's a celebration of those who have served their country. Yes, we should all be damn proud to be Americans snd to benefit from the freedoms that we have been granted. But what many don't really understand is that this day is less a celebration and more a stark reminder that people actually died for your freedoms. For many I think that it's a difficult pill to swallow and, as many things tend to be, if it is not some how specifically effecting them then it's easy to pretend it has no effect on them.
