“Firstly, I appreciate my fans,” he said after the 2-2 tie with Ajax Cape Town in a South African Premier Division game Friday, “and my wife and my girlfriend.”

Cue the nervous laughter and the quick make-up call for what everyone who’s in a relationship hopes was just a brain freeze.
