The only thing that really bothered me about this video is the violation of 670-1. That being said, I have yet to see where a Soldiers sexual orientation has interfered with him/her doing their job.

I always thought there was a rule that you need US Army permission to show the correct uniform in media. But on further research, there used to be a rule actors were allowed to wear military uniforms as long as they did not "discredit the armed force." But in 1970, the Supreme Court ruled in unconstitutional.

So I guess the producer just thought, "Well, this stuff we grabbed at the Army/Navy looks military enough."

I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions. I also believe we can judge the actions of others. For instance, if I see you beating a child I can call that wrong. What we can't do is judge the hearts of others. So it's ok to think homosexuality is wrong but we shouldn't use that to attack the person (if that makes sense). And while it's ok to voice your opinion, it needs to be done at the appropriate time and with gentleness and respect (too many people miss this point). It should not be done with the holier-than-thou, judgmental attitude that some of these people portrayed. I have much more disdain for people who claim to be Christians while judging others "in the name of God" than I ever will for others with whom I disagree.

While you youngsters argue over displays of homosexuality, let me tell a story from Vietnam era. Back then being openly gay was an instant ticket out of the military, yet we had many gay servicepeople who served with honor. On my first B-52 tour in theater our copilot was gay. Every wife on our crew knew it, a good looking officer that they would try to set up with their single friends to no avail. The entire crew knew it, but it didn't matter, we were an all instructor Select Crew who did our jobs well. No one cared about the sexual orientation of one of our crew and we all roomed in one trailer when stationed in Thailand! What matters in the military is your ability to accomplish the mission and I suppose the entire crew could have been charged for not speaking up given the environment back then, but none of us did. It just flat out didn't matter!

PO3 John Wagner - That's ok, my next to the youngest brother took care of the situation 2 weeks later, even though he acted a little prissy, he kicked the crap out of the other kid. A few of my friends and I made sure no one stepped in to stop the butt kicking.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - Good deal. That kid took a beating for an awful lot of people.

PO3 John Wagner - That he did, and it was pay back for getting put on probation.
