Offering the vaccine first to health care personnel and Veterans: Initially, we expect supplies to be limited. Based on these risk factors, the VA will offer the vaccine first to high-risk health care personnel (HCP), as they are essential in continuing to care for patients throughout the pandemic. As more vaccines become available, the VA will offer the vaccine to high-risk Veterans.

Received my first dose on January 7th at a VA Hospital within a week of registering that I would like be a recipient of the vaccine.

Received dose 2 on February 8 with a few side effects: insomnia, slight headache, loss of appetite (that was a good one to help me lose a pound or two), some chills, pain at the point of injection and a pain behind my left ear radiating down my neck. All of these were very tolerable and were totally gone in two days. Just a share of my experience for anyone who has not yet been inoculated. Super feeling to now allegedly have a 95% immunity rate. BTW I received mine through the VA Hospital and they did a magnificent job from appointment to conclusion. Good luck to all who are waiting to be called and I hope you get an appointment ASAP.
