Lt Col Charlie Brown I never heard of this mathematician. I find that whenever I'm stuck on a problem it's best to not spend a lot of time on it at the moment. I leave it and quite often later it returns to my mind with an answer on how to solve it when I'm involved with something else. Or, later I return and get the answer almost immediately. It's good to let the mind rest from the problem for a while or you will go crazy trying to figure it out.

Cpl Vic Burk I would be surprised if what you have said is not how it is for most folks with all types of problem solving. It is an interesting article. So too are Karlssons mental gymnastics. In sixth grade we had a debate about whether we think in words or pictures. Our conclusion was both.

Seems to me that over analyzing anyone else's thought processes seems less productive and instructive than analyzing one's own, unless one is in the field of neuroscience. In that case the issue is almost always associated with what are still considered to be the mysteries of both universal and individual consciousness.
