It doesn't help that a lot of students are studying career fields that are either overstrengthed or no longer viable sources of income. Sadly, careers in psychology, early childhood development, and education do not pay like jobs in engineering, aerospace, or other sciences. Many go into fields such as liberal arts and get what they pay for but no career to pay for it.

That's why they have to go to school for knowledge not stripes.

CW2 (Join to see) - From what I recall, NCOES doesn't stress that. Individual Leaders have to make that point and the individual has to realize that. A degree is just a part of the pie now. That's why making use of your passion and time outside the classroom are so important.

Do we really have to hold the hand of adults and tell them to take college seriously? Forgive me but I'm a leader not a babysitter. They'll do what they do. I just tell them to go to school. I can't make them.

What also does not help is people get degrees in something other than their field. Work experience counts just as much as your degree does in many cases. Too many people also chose the wrong school along with the wrong degree. Perfect example is a career Soldier getting a degree in marketing from an online school. Marketing is all about image, young and hip. Marketing companies want to hire young people with the latest trends, not some old broken and bitter retired Soldier with no experience in the degree he/she got it on. Why would they do that, no one wants to hire their dad or mom to work along side them. It does not fit their culture.
