in the 90's we were taught about "profiling". It did not last long before it became illegal. Most cops won't risk a conviction on something like "profiling" when there is so many other legal ways to make traffic stops, even of suspicious suspects.

Profiling was an issue twenty years earlier when I first put on the badge. But we handled it however we needed, and damn the media and damn the public.
