I agree that there is a thing called white priviledge but not so much in the way this comic depicts it. Alot of you're points are invalid because there are black people that come from the same backgrounds now that you depict that white people come from. You can't sit here and make the broad claim that "Poeple of color continue to suffer from discrimination to this day" when The NBA is predominately black and we have a organization called "Black Entertainment Television". I'm a black man from the south and I've seen true racism upfront and close but my parents always taught me to continue to strive for what I want, even in the face of adversity. If I had this thought process that you described on your post then i would never be as successful as I am now. If you continue to look for reasons to justify your shortcomings than you'll never get anywhere in life, REGARDLESS of what color you are.

I wish I could Up-Vote this 100 times!

LTC Allen West and GEN Colin Powell both came up through the ranks in an Army that was sometimes openly hostile towards men of color. Yet they persevered and succeeded DESPITE the social norms of the time. Racism can be overcome if you want to overcome it. Or you can continue to wallow in self-inflicted "Victim Syndrome" where you blame everyone else for your failures. Life is a choice; your position in society is dependent on the choices you make.

I don't do drugs, so I guess I miss out on my oh so sweet privilege.

My family also didn't go to college, at least not as far back as I can verify easily. No familial wealth to speak of either.

My father was raised picking cotton in 1940s Arkansas. He lived in his car for most of my life (my parents were divorced) to save up enough money to rent a motel 6 bedroom for the weekends that he had custody.

My mother, who again was not college educated, worked 90 hours a week to keep us fed (me and my 2 siblings).

I guess I must have missed the boat on that white privilege you say I got.

I also don't believe the job situation has effected me, considering my wife and I are the only two white people at my job and all of my direct superiors are minorities.

Is it too late to cash that privilege in? Where do I go for my check?
