Sorry, professional athletes of all colors are commodities. They are worth precisely what they earn team owners and related organizations in revenue. BTW, this is the case with anyone of any color in any commerical vocation. One has a job for the sole purpose of turning a company profit, period! If one is fortunate enough to become a multi-millionaire through nothing more than playing a game, one should be tremendously grateful. Tom Landry would be kicking some serious a$$ here.

I think to a certain extent you're right. It's hard to feel empathetic for a guy making millions of dollars but I think the article went beyond that. There is a double standard and increased scrutiny for whatever actions or statements a Black athlete makes vs a White one. That's a fact. Lochte's behavior abroad vs Kaepernick's refusal to stand for the National Anthem. Roethlisburger's rape charge vs Vick's dogfighting. White America went batshit crazy over Vick. People were talking about killing him and everything but Roethlisburger ehhh...it's only rape. He's a good kid.
