I can't imagine any scenario in which China "allows" the US to attack/invade NK. I would expect China to do the job themselves if NK keeps stirring the pot

No I think the real difference is the differences in the way the two heads of state achieve power. North Korea has been via family name and relationship. China they have had to get promoted to the top via the Party. So the difference there I think along with the Chinese having to pay a good portion of North Korea's bills is they view NK as a Welfare Queen and undeserving of independent Nation State Status. I think we can strike a deal with China for a unified but Neutral Korea somewhat like Finland was during the USSR's existence. The Chinese would be OK with that and I think North Korea would as well and we could get our troops back from Korea. It would not be a permanent state of non-alignment only as long as China survived as a Communist State which I think........it's days are numbered there.

When you read the original Armistice agreement of 1953, the world is getting tired of the Kim Dynasty failure to comply to the terms of the ceasefire
