I saw and it's not a bad analysis, however, the real underpinning reason to me, at least, is that they're an economy in the drive to maturity stage of development, with that fake capitalist overlay, when they're really nothing more than straight out communism, and have been ever since Mao and Chou en lai beat Chiang kai shek. The really dangerous one there, as I've mentioned on here elsewhere, was Deng xiao Peng, he creatednthemfake capitalism to appease the population, Ithink, expressly to perpetuate communism. They're doing nothing different from what Russia did during under the Soviet concept in the cold war, precisely the same thing, nothing but the usual hegemonic efforts at world domination, count on it. In place of Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Poland, just substitute the Philippines, Japan, and, also, even though they think of it as part of their country Taiwan. North Korea, though filled with those neo-stalinist time warped fruitcakes, is nothing but an extension of their own country. Vietnam is different, Vietnam, though communist, certainly, actually threw China out when China tried to basicallymannex them, some yrs ago, I recall. So trust !e, the reasons may change as specific phenomena, however the phenomenon is basically exactly the same, honest.

I agree, historically the Chinese always considered China as the center of the universe...and in many ways, from a cultural and political perspective, they were. Today's emphasis on building a blue navy is basically an extension of that philosophy.

I perceive your point, however, that was not precisely my emphasis. If you've never readmit, look at The Stages of Economic Growth by Walter w rostow who was in the JFK cabinet. The single best noncommunist manifesto on macroeconomics I ever read. Once you read that, if you haven't yet, you'll hopefully perceive my use of the phraseology drive to maturity. The Chinese effort at a blue water Navy is no different than what the Soviet Adm Gorshkov tried to do in the 1980s. The Chinese merely piggybacked on that effort by getting that half build Soviet carrier that was never finished, which was to be expected that they'd finagle, to save time and development effort. Trust me, what you're seeing in China is just exactly what rostow discussed innhis book, which, while dated now, was nonetheless mind bendingly accurate in its analysis. Countries develop at different mathematical rates, not due to individual human actions, but due to very definite mathematical processes analyzable by operations research methods. I'll give in a link here, trust me, look at it in depth, it'll be of real use to you, honest, hope was useful, many thanks.

That's the link, trust me, to understand that whole problem, one needs to understand operations research, doing so without it is virtually impossible, count on it, honest.
