Why Immigrants Should Love Columbus Day | PragerU

Columbus wasn't the first to discover the "New Continent" but he was the one who proclaimed its existence to the Western World. He was preceded by many who either didn't return or kept the knowledge to themselves. "Native Americans" or the "Indigenous Tribes" also immigrated (and there is no record of any returning to tell the tale of what they had found). The Chinese came early in the 15th Century and established colonies, and they returned. But disaster had befallen the Chinese Empire and the Confucians suppressed word of the explorers' discoveries. Most interesting to me, the islanders that Columbus first encountered were delighted at his arrival. They were beset by other islanders who were cannibals and thought that Columbus and his men might help defend them. Of course, that wasn't Columbus's purpose. What is my point? Simply this: I am determined to preserve history. Only tyrants seek to rewrite it to their own purposes.
