I'm not sure why the author opens with a headline saying that "Jews Should Pay Attention." It seems that all Americans should. This is a long and convoluted dissertation. Please avoid if you're not up to it. I had to walk away several times before I could muster the energy to tackle it. Sadly, one statement kept getting in my way: ""We live, thundered Ahmari, in perilous times, with a progressive vanguard on the rise, dedicated to maximizing individual liberties at the expense of communal and traditional values." It is totally oxymoronic to me. Progressives are the apostles of socialism. Now if that is incorrect, please stop me right there. However, if true, then the statement is oxymoronic. Socialism is based on the power of the collective to subjugate individual liberties. How else could they manage the collective and its resources. Those who enjoy individual liberties also enjoy the right to make their own choices, their own decisions. They spend what they earn and spend it on what they want. They engage in trades of wealth for goods and services based on their own perception of relative values. Socialism deprives them of all such choices and decisions. Socialism is, put simply, the enemy of individual liberties. Thus, the statement is oxymoronic in my estimation. Please convince me if I am wrong.
