We could lower the stress level by shooting down their next launch. It may cause them to retaliate but it might be worth it. They may try another delivery method or even launch arty strikes on SK if we do this, but at the risk of great peril. China has said they will not intervene if NK attacks first. The question is whether they will view us shooting down a missile as an attack by us. One phone call could put that to rest. Considering the damage a trade war would cause to US and China, they may commit to us being defensive by shooting a missile down. Unless they are behind all of this they may be getting just as tired of it as we are. I don't think China will ever turn their back on NK because they view NK as a buffer protecting their border. It's a risk because if the effort to shoot down their missile should fail, it will elevate concerns and embolden them. As others have stated here on RP, shooting a drone with a known trajectory is far different from an incoming launch by an adversary. Their words and deeds have warranted such a tactic, and it may be time.

Anytime nKorea shoots a missile....should we assume that it is a nuke.... who wants to take the chance it is not a nuke? Guam, LA, Wash DC. "Give Peace a Chance..." That worked...

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint - That's the point where it comes down to where would you rather the casualties be, on their soil or yours? His words and deeds would be enough to convict him of wanting to do us harm, so he's given a green light. My concern is China using him to pull us into something, while they tell us otherwise. If we are going for diplomacy we need to ask what does he actually want? At that point we have to decide if we're willing to go that route. If not, give him what he's been asking for and start by shooting his missiles down. While they protest, we counter with "don't fire them and they won't be shot down". We see it as a threat based on his past efforts and rhetoric.

What about cutting oil the China, or trade embargo? Don't you think the NORKS are doing the bidding of China?

Yes, but they can take a lot of punishment WITH PRIDE....just they way they grow up. Cut our food and oil, more walking and only one fat boy in the country. (Note the average height has gone down.)
