If everyone is special, no one is special. If everyone gets a medal, no one gets a medal. If everyone wins a trophy, no one wins a trophy. The attempt to try to bolster self esteem is way over rated. We should be working on bolstering humility and a desire to serve others. Those are far more desirable skills than self esteem, self love and the narcissism that always flow from it. It seems to me too many think way to highly of themselves, their value to the planet etc.

This whole thing started on the left with the idea that bullies don't have enough self-esteem, and the cure for bullying is to pump up the self-esteem in bullies. (If it didn't actually start with that, it was derived shortly afterward.) The problem all along was that bullies had too much self-esteem, and pumping up their self-esteem just put fuel on the fire.
The Self-Esteem movement was just one more leftist attack on the Judeo-Christian system of morals and ethics. How dare you tie a child's sense of accomplishment to things they actually accomplish!
