In my opinion the local elections are the only ones that the voters have a real say in. You can get rid of a establishment Congressman or local politician with a majority vote. National elections are, in fact, rigged as stated by Trump and Sanders. As Barnie fife used to say, "You have to nip it in the bud."

Absolutely and from my experience, the more vocal and active members of the community tend to see their issues addressed. The district with little to no voter turn out still has them. Local politics often has a more direct impact on your life than the state or national level.

SCPO Albert Lee Smith Observing local elections has been an education. Many caring people run for election. Some of them spend ? personal funds in a attempt to be elected. Fifteen years ago, I was paid $50 for attending a one hour 'study group' which was researching community opinions and desires. In smaller communities it is nice to know your councilperson and to feel you are able to communicate w/ them.
