Why Skills Training Can’t Replace Higher Education

I am a top end software architect with no 4 year degree.

Some people are not suited for higher education, PERIOD! Some fortunate others can discover other marketable skills. The article is total BS! I speak from experience! SGT (Join to see)

There are VERY few jobs that cannot be properly trained on the job. The military has been able to make it work with a WIDE array of jobs. (Seriously, think about how many different jobs there are across the 5 branches - almost all of which are being performed by people either with no degree or working outside their degree.) Obviously, the civilian workforce is not the military. But the military proves it is possible. Get a competent person, train them to do a job. As the job grows and evolves, the person grows and evolves with it. And then they train someone else to do what they can do.
