Why the 82nd Airborne Had So Many Problems Taking Sainte-Mere-Eglise

You can only do, what you can do, with what you have, and know at the time.
In the 82nd ABN division 2/505th Inf during my time, we told and taught, Identify the mission, and adapt, it works.
An old SF Sargent once told me, "When in doubt, Don't do it!" "Rule of thumb, the river is as deep, as it is wide!"
Mission, Cross it, Adapt, Swim for it" Lol

What a mess...dropped troops pretty far from the target zone...that fire that was responded to by the French couldn't have been worse timing
