On september 2, 1960, American sprinter Wilma Rudolph won the coveted 100m gold medal at the Rome Olympics in 11.0; she beat Britain's Dorothy Hyman by 0.3. It was the 1st of 3 gold medals for the polio victim. From leg braces to Olympic champion. Quite the accomplishment.
