"WINAMP- WinAmp- winamp ... It really whips the llama's ass!"
I miss WinAmp. It was certainly the best of its era. The ubiquity of decent music platforms and the advent of high-end mobile MP3 payers (followed quickly by smartphones) was eventually going to kill it one way or another, but it was good while it lasted.

I was a fan. I don't recall what the catalyst was, but at some point, I just stopped using it.

I actually believe if they had branched it to embedded software, it would have been a great interface for portables and real competition for iPods with their proprietary encoding strategy.

Cpl (Join to see) - I totally agree. I definitely would have bought a player compatible with Winamp instead of an iPod when my Nomad died.

I remember having this program back when I was in Korea. It made things really easy and fun, but I agree that in today's world, this program just cannot keep up. To many other options out there that are easier to use and more mobile.
