TITLE: Woman charged with strangling WWI vet, Purple Heart recipient in 1983
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A New York woman has been charged with killing a 92-year-old World War I veteran during a break-in at his Buffalo home more than three decades ago.
Erie County prosecutors announced Wednesday that fingerprints and DNA evidence linked Saundra Adams to the slaying of Edmund Schreiber, who was found strangled with his own neckties in June 1983.
Adams was 17 at the time of the killing. Prosecutors say an unknown accomplice was also involved.
Adams, who's now 50, was arrested Tuesday. She has pleaded not guilty and is in jail pending a bail hearing.
Attorney Susan Karalus represented Adams at her arraignment. She says Adams lives in the same Buffalo neighborhood where Schreiber was slain.
Authorities say Schreiber was wounded during WWI and had been awarded a Purple Heart medal.

Thank God that Saundra Adams has finally been charged with the strangling murder of WWI Edmund Schreiber in 1983. Hopefully she will be executed very soon and that she will suffer before and during her execution.

Personally I'd say lock her up and throw away the key. How do you strangle a 92 year old? The fact that she murdered someone, in one of the most personal ways, who was a WWII Veteran and the recipient of a Purple Heart makes it even more unbelievable.. And for what? That's what I want to know. For what price did this woman take someone's life? Regardless, at the end of the day, I am sure she will get far less time than most would feel is just. Being from NY, I can honestly say the justice system doesn't work the same way it does in other places.. I'm happy the case has finally been cracked and justice can be served, but at the same time, the loss of such a person is disheartening - even if it was from almost 30 years ago..
