CPO Andy Carrillo, MS - Yes I would love to see that!!! I am for carrying a gun for protection, it is one of our basic rights and if the laws weren't in place to make it harder to do so, so many lives could be saved!

Candy Alkaabi - Yes it is a shame... But until they have a metal detector at the front door I am packing... and depending where I am It may be heavy or at home light... Just because it says no Guns ... What they don't know will not hurt them...

SFC George Smith - I like your style!!! we have classes on using non conventional weapons because of those laws. I know several ways to use a hijab pin and things on hand to defend myself and others. Its all about people knowing how to defend themselves and not being afraid to stand their ground. Heck a can of Lysol works great on an unsuspecting gun man or knife wielding looney but many don't know this. With the Lysol one can make it so that the person that is sprayed has to seek medical help, therefore implicating themselves as the suspect. There is also a new device that has pepper spray attached to a camera that automatically sends a pic of the attacker to the police. They also developed a gun that shoots pepper pods for those that cant carry or don't want to use a real gun. Cans of food can also be used as a weapon to disarm the maniac if need be while in a grocery store. BUT if one can carry they should to protect those of us that cant or don't for various reasons. Mine is more of the fact that I wouldn't pass some of the tests because they are too stringent here in FL. I can fire a gun, my daddy made sure I know how to, but until the laws are changed they wont let me even have a derringer.

Candy Alkaabi - Everything you have pointed out with defense sounds like what I was taught as an associate of Walmart for an active shooter (if you can't retreat). "In this case, there is no such thing as a fair fight! Use everything you can, from items on shelves to tools to chairs. Fight dirty!" They were talking about fighting as dirty as a street fight, if not dirtier than one!
I have a few unconventional weapons as well. I used to carry a monkey fist along with a knife or 2, (now I carry a .40). I encouraged all of my female friends to carry something that would incapacitate an assailant. Even bought/made a few monkey fists for them. I've even created a small truncheon for another female friend who drives a lot. Even taught the basics of where to be effective with them.
If they still made the original formula of Lysol, that stuff would have one immediately choking just by being in proximity of the spray! Lysol has MANY benefits! From health to defense!

It would seem she had excellent gun control we should have more gun control like that

That's also the answer as to why the media won't cover it

The story said she shot the guy in the leg, back, and head (from behind.) Now I understand the .45 has some kick and muzzle-climb. To me it sounds like she started low and worked her way up from the muzzle-climb. Putting rounds on target is great, and it worked. But GREAT control would have been putting ALL of her rounds center mass. I'm not downing her, just making an observation. We need more people like her armed!

Wow. And the store is going to pursue legal actions against her? Way to kill your business, Mr. CEO.

SN Greg Wright had this woman not taken action then the next of kin of those killed in this mass shooting would be suing this retailer for not providing a safe environment (those wounded I'm sure are lawyering up to go after the deep pockets department store anyway, I would presume). This retailer should be honoring her for saving their customer's and employee's lives...

CPO Andy Carrillo, MS - Oh, I agree, Chief. I think that if they follow through with a lawsuit against her, they're going to take a huge hit.

All 117 shoppers should file suit against the store for 117 counts of "reckless endangerment" for putting their lives at risk from criminals. In this case, the story proves the case.
