I have worried for a long time that the changes in female assignments based off the last 16 years of conflict could someday haunt us. It has been a generation since men had to eat, sleep, and shit in their foxholes and while women can be every bit the soldier a man is, you cannot change the health needs. A man goes two weeks without cleaning between his legs and annoying fungus can grow. A female does not clean and happens to start their cycle, not getting out of a foxhole for two weeks could be serious illness or death. I would love for someone here to tell me I am full of shit however the history books are full of stories of horrible personal hygiene while the shelling and battle wore on. Hopefully future conflicts will prove wrong however as the father of a little girl, the last thing I want is to loose her over personal hygiene.
