People look up a familiar word because they are not sure about its meaning given recent context in media. Media are misleading about terms all the time because they misuse them in an effort to advance a narrative favorable to their point of view or goals. "Justice" and Guantanamo Bay are interesting partners. The MSM have told the masses that there has been (and probably still is) torture going on there, and that at the very least, detainees are mistreated. The MSM perpetuate not only that myth about Gitmo, but also that the detainees are not being given justice; they are indefinite prisoners denied the right to challenge their own nicarceration. Also inaccurate. The Geneva Conventions state that even lawful combatant POW's may be held without charge or trial "until the end of hostilities." Islamist apologists jump in and insist that the law does not apply to Gitmo detainees for some erroneous reason(s). "Justice" depends on who's using it and why.

I have learned a little about justice from studying law and a lot more having lived 75 years. Ultimately, "justice" is one of those terms that people bandy about to inspire an emotional response though there is little or no agreement on what it means. It is (or has become) the equivalent of "fairness"...
